Group Size

Ladies,
MOPS is one week from today, and I think when you show up, you'll really enjoy yourselves! I really feel we are going to have a great year. However, for those of you who are returning to MOPS @ Crossroads, you are no stranger to what I'm about to say. Ladies, our group is full. We are at capacity in our childcare, and we are at capacity at our table groups of moms. We have 80+ moms signed up for MOPS this year!

I *HATE* (notice those capital letters) turning moms away from our group. It goes against everything within me to tell a mom she can't come to MOPS @ Crossroads. Unfortunately, I'm having to do that several times a week as of late.

If you meet someone and they need MOPS, at this time, there are a few things we can do. I would suggest these following options.

If they don't need ANY childcare, there are a few spots we can squeeze them in.
If they need childcare, they can go on a waiting list for the meetings and are welcome to hang out with us at Davitas, playdates, and moms nights out. I'm sure as the year progresses, there will be some openings.

Or, they could get plugged into other MOPS groups in the area. Several of them we have working relationships with, and we've referred moms to their groups. First of all, there is the MOPS group at Riverbluff Church. They have room to grow in their group and in childcare. They meet on Fridays and their first meeting is September 3rd at 9:30am.

Then, there is the MOPS group at Cathedral of Praise Church off Ashley Phosphate Road. Their first meeting is September 23rd. They have childcare space available as well. Many of their moms have been coming to our Davitas playdates over the summer, and we have a really good relationship with their group.

There are also groups at Old Fort, Cooper River Baptist, & Seacoast. I can help get anyone in contact with any of these groups. Just let me know.

It is my desire that there is No Mom Alone and that all moms who wish to benefit from MOPS do so. I am working on a few different ideas that may allow MOPS @ Crossroads to grow more in the future. But for right now, we are pretty much full. I hope you understand if you were hoping to get a friend or two into our group. I ask that you pray for me and the few others who are trying to figure out the best way to continue to grow MOPS @ Crossroads.

  1. I'm so sad to see this group is full. I just moved here and was hoping to become a member. Hopefully, God will provide a way for your group to continue it's growth. I just moved here from VA and left behind a great MOPS group where I served on the steering team. When our group became full we started a new group that met on Fridays and kept our Tuesday group as normal. It was a great success for the church and the steering team leaders had joint meetings to help with planning. Mops has been in invaluable part of my life through many military moves. I will be praying for this group to grow...

  2. Janine, Thank you for your prayers. As Coordinator this year, I have been praying about the 2nd group idea. It's a lot to undertake, but if that is what God wants, then He will provide!

There are other MOPS groups in the area that are always looking for new moms (as I listed above). I hope you find one. If not, please email me at coordinators AT mopscrossroads.org and I'll put you on our waiting list.

  3. Hi Janine! I'm new here too! We've only been here about 2 months now and i'm still learning the area. Even though you won't be able to join us at the MOPS group there's a Bible Study at the church (it's not Mops specific) on Tuesday mornings starting at 9:30 (it starts this week). I'm going to be doing it and from what I understand a few other moms will be too. You should join us. My Mops group in WA was an important part of my life and i'm so glad I found a new group! If you'd like to do coffee or a park some morning feel free to send me an email. I know first hand how hard it can be to move to a new area and not know anyone! I wish you the best on your MOPS journey!

  4. Hello Ladies,

I am trying to follow along with your comments and understand if you are in need of more space for your MOPs group to meet or need child care. My name is Tammy Minnoe and I am the owner of Just Like Home Playhouse in Summerville. The Playhouse is 2300 square feet of kids' fun. I am certain Crossroads MOPs has visited here, but if I can assist with space or child care please let me know. I am struggling to stay afloat in business as I lost many of the kids that have been in my preschool program to elementary school. We offer open play, drop off babysitting, preschool program and birthday parties. Please contact me at (843) 709-2258 if I can assist your group. You can obtain information on Just Like Home Playhouse on the web at www.justlikehomeplayhouse.com. I have a great Preschool Program that runs Monday-Thursday flexible days if anyone is interested. It's starting October 4th.
    Thank you,
    Tammy Minnoe
