Ladies,
I hope this letter finds all of you doing well! I also hope you are
enjoying the start to our MOPS year at Crossroads Community Church. It
is such a pleasure to be Coordinating MOPS this year. Seeing everyone
have such a wonderful time at meetings, playdates, and moms nights
really warms the hearts of all the ladies on the steering team. I hope
and pray that MOPS @ Crossroads is everything you expected it to be
and even more!
As you know from attending meetings, we have a lot of moms in our
group! Over 80 moms are part of MOPS @ Crossroads. Childcare is more
than full, and our meeting space in the youth building is, uh, cozy
(That’s a nice way of saying a little crowded…)! Yet, we continue to
get moms calling and emailing to see if we have space available in our
group. Many of you have asked about getting your friends on our
waiting list. As you know from my email in September, our group is
full and it absolutely goes against everything within me to not let a
mom immediately join in our MOPS fun!
So, I’ve been praying about where God wants this MOPS group to go this
year, asking Him how to let more moms join our group so that no mom is
alone. After a lot of prayer, discussions with Crossroads leadership
and the steering team, we have a solution!
Starting in January, MOPS @ Crossroads is growing! We will have a
group of moms meeting on the 1st Thursday and on the 3rd Thursday of
the month. Basically, it will work like this: MOPS @ Crossroads will
have two “shifts” – Alpha Shift and Omega Shift. Alpha Shift will
meet the 1st Thursday. Omega Shift will meet the 3rd Thursday. Both
Shifts will share playdates and Moms Nights Out. Both Shifts will have
the same meeting, with the same speaker, same craft, etc. just held on
two different days.
So, what does this mean for you? Well, it depends. We are hoping to
move some moms to the Omega Shift. The best way to do this is to have
2 Table groups move. That way the table group stays intact and the
only real change is just what day you’ll come for your meetings. If we
can’t get 2 tables to move, we’ll ask for volunteers to switch to the
Omega Shift. This isn’t as ideal because it may affect our current
table groups and I hate to see our small groups get shaken up too much
mid-year.
Also, we are going to need a few more people to step up in leadership
positions for the change in January. We’re going to need a few more
steering team members and a couple more table leaders and care team
members. If you think you might be interested in helping as our group
grows, we will hold a special Leadership Lemonade on November 8th at
10am at Crossroads. You can come to this to find out more information
about what areas will need additional help. Please pray that God
sends us the right people to help as our group expands.
Additionally, this will mean we need to add some volunteers for
MOPPETS. We are expecting the new Shift to be about half the size of
our current group as we start out in January. Some of our current
MOPPETS volunteers may be able to work both weeks. However, depending
on how everything works out, we may need to institute a MOPPETS Co-op.
This would be where Alpha Shift moms volunteer to work childcare for
Omega Shift and vise-versa. This would only be a handful of moms, so
if you volunteered for this, you’d probably only have to do this one
time. Most MOPS groups have to use mom volunteers and the past couple
years, we’ve been blessed with enough childcare workers to keep moms
in the meeting. The Co-op would ensure you didn’t miss your meeting as
well.
Finally, the moms on our waiting list will be contacted in the next
couple weeks about the new opportunity to join in the fun at MOPS @
Crossroads. Also, if you have friends who want to get plugged into
our group, now is the time to get them signed up. We’ll have
registration forms available at the November meeting. Or you can
contact Kadie Laughlin at kadielaugh AT gmail.com, and she will be glad
to assist.
I just ask that you pray for our leadership team as we gear up for an
additional “Shift” to our MOPS group. We are excited that this is
finally happening. For a couple years this idea has been floating
around, and we are able to see that this is God’s timing in allowing
our group to grow finally. I am super excited in seeing how everything
has lined up and knowing that we can continue to minister to more moms
as we endeavor to ensure that no mom is alone.
We will have some time at the November 4th meeting to answer questions
you may have regarding these changes. Or, feel free to call me or
email me. My email address is Mandi.livingston AT gmail.com. Expect to see additional announcements regarding the new meeting shift in your email boxes and
on our Facebook group!
Blessings!
Mandi Livingston
